Each successive Spiritual Energy Principle builds on the previous ones. Just to review a bit, we saw in the first Spiritual Energy Principle – Doing Follows Being – the importance of clarifying and applying spiritual values and gifts – our Spiritual Ideal – that inspires and guides our lives.
The second Spiritual Energy Principle – Energy Follows Attention – teaches that we can develop the innate mental capacity to both focus our attention on our spiritual values and open our attentive field to the inspiration and guidance that spiritual values have on offer in each moment.
The third Spiritual Energy – Reframing and Seeing Our Experiences in a New Way Changes How We Feel and Respond to a Challenging Life Situation – invites us to apply Spiritual Principles One and Two even more intentionally.
We have the ability to shift our attention to a perspective or understanding of our life that aligns with and activates our stated values. But first, we need to become aware of the thoughts, beliefs and attitudes that currently drive our choices and actions.
One of the hallmark experiential exercises found in all PTCI courses are our Energy Constellations. These three-dimensional experiences call upon and integrate somatic, emotional and mental energies. Experiencing and witnessing the interaction of one’s thoughts, emotions and somatic intelligence can lead to deeper insights, clarity, and a new perspective about a past or current life situation. It can lead to insights and new ways of being that help one better prepare for and meet a future life event.
As those of you who have experienced our innovative Energy Constellations can attest, the awareness and spiritual perception that arises from energy work can help you to fundamentally change your mind (perspective) about a life situation and consequently change your inner and outer responses as well. Almost magically, you see and feel your life situation differently – through another lens – one that has been there all along, but out of your field of vision.
We all get caught in stories and narratives about ourselves, our lives and our relationships with others. The wisdom of the third Spiritual Energy Principle and Energy Constellation work is that they do not negate one perspective or another. Rather, they broaden the field of possible ways to understand our life experiences. Then, we actually have a choice about which narrative to pursue in a particular life situation. Working with our Spiritual Ideal and keeping our attention aligned with it, we can intentionally give prominence to a narrative that best aligns with our highest and best selves. In this way we begin to see and feel differently and move toward a closer connection with our Spiritual Ideal.
Reframing is the key. When we know who we are and are deeply connected to our spiritual values, we can purposefully focus on more helpful ways to understand our life experiences. We can engage in narratives that enhance our vitality, connect us with others, and more deeply weave our spiritual values into the very fabric of our being. We can choose to see our life story as one that supports our continued growth and personal transformation. We can envision our life experiences in new ways. And, as we reframe our life experiences in these ways, we begin to feel and sense a new way of being in ourselves and in our relationship with others. This does not mean that we sugar-coat our life narratives or wildly fantasize and create narratives about how we want things to be. It means that we are firmly rooted in the spiritual values that inspire and guide our life and our decisions. It means that from an inner space of awareness, authenticity and freedom, we choose to chronicle our life story in ways that honor our struggles and our successes, measured by courage, compassion and adherence to values that benefit us and all beings.
