PROGRAM FORMAT AND MODULE DESCRIPTIONS

This highly experiential program has four modules of three days each. The modules will integrate theoretical frameworks, research evidence, experiential practice, and daily life applications. With each module you will be gaining a stronger foundation for applying transformative theories and practices in your personal and professional life.

Module 1: Vision and Courage

At the heart of transformative change lies vision and courage – the capacity to see clearly the ideals and potentials for one’s life and the inner resources to actually move in the direction of those ideals. Walking the spiritual path requires that you “catch a vision” for your life and move toward it with courage. That vision is a Spiritual Ideal – your highest aspiration and goal. This inner compass and purposeful intentionality guides your life.

You will be introduced to inspiration and guidance that comes from both Eastern and Western transformational psychologies for working with visioning in your life. This visioning is at the heart of transformational change, and it leads to both an inner compass and a purposeful-intentionality that guide your life.

Through experiential exercises you will connect to the courage which is needed in order to let go of old beliefs and attitudes that have kept you from expressing your core values. This courage will also support you in living your core values in personal and professional settings.

By the end of this module, you will experience the capacity to:

  • Identify one or two personally-meaningful mindfulness practices, which will create space for transformational change;
  • Articulate a personal statement of vision for your life;
  • Exhibit the capacity to respond courageously to a specific challenging
    circumstance that has limited your personal well-being; and,
  • Describe and demonstrate stages of healthy will development, including the positive role of “being able to say no” in order to assert autonomy and to enhance personal resilience.

The spiritual ideal – finding and then validating what it is for me, which affords me the opportunity to see just how much my ideal is involved in everything I do, how I look at life, how it is the basis for my spirituality and creativity, how I express myself, and how I relate to others. This, above all else that I have experienced in the PTCI classes, has impacted my life the most.

Module 2: Three Paths of Transformation

Drawing upon ancient spiritual traditions of how people undergo individual transformation, in this module you will learn about three distinct styles of personal growth. Each of these styles is designed to promote greater self-awareness and to build capacity to respond constructively to life’s opportunities and challenges. You will
discover which one of these three pathways of transformation comes most naturally for you, and which other two can be nurtured and developed, creating additional momentum in your personal transformation process. The three ancient pathways are:

The Path of Perfection. Discovering what’s right about you and what’s good about life. This includes your core values and innate strengths, and learning how to apply those strengths in daily situations and challenges.

The Path of Renunciation. Understanding the mental, emotional and physical patterns that limit you. What no longer serves you? What stands in the way of you creatively expressing your talents and strengths in life? Through this pathway you will learn how to drop or let go of those limiting patterns.

The Path of Alchemy. Facing the shadow side of your attitudes, emotions, and physical drives. By working with the shadow side you will learn to re-constellate it, and you will use that energy to gain a greater understanding of yourself and your presence in the world. This path includes reframing challenges to see in them the opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as increased self-awareness.

By the end of this module you will experience the capacity to:

  • Identify and describe your own innate pathway of transformation and how the other two pathways can play supplemental, supportive roles;
  • Recognize and more fully integrate your core array of strengths and talents; and, being in your personal and/or professional life.
  • Transform a personal pattern of conflict which has been undermining your well-being in your personal and/or professional life.

Thanks so much for helping me to look deeper and to always trust my intuition.

Module 3: Ideals, Intuition and Whole-Being

This module presents current theories and research in neuroscience and transformational psychology about our two cognitive brains – one focused on intuitive wisdom and the other on analytical knowledge. The mindful integration of the two allows you to make whole-brain decisions and to creatively respond to life’s adversities and challenges. That kind of “whole-being” is a vital aspect of well-being.

In this module you will come to a deep appreciation of your intuition as an innate aspect of human cognition. You will learn how it is one of the ways that you are “wired” for knowledge, creativity, and understanding. When it comes to problems and conflicts, you will learn to consult and trust your feelings, gut instincts, body wisdom, and creative imagination. A growing body of scientific and psychological evidence shows that our intuition is working all the time, albeit at an unconscious level. From your experiences in this module, you will start approaching problems, conflicts, and life-decisions with your whole-being – with the resources of both your cognitive brains.

Both cognitive brains also have something to teach you about your core values and ideals. Both have their unique ways to guide you in applying those values in your daily life. Only through living from your whole-being – from the resources of your intuition and your rationality – can you fully express your talents and strengths for a flourishing life.

By the end of this module you will experience the capacity to:

  • Describe what science knows about the functions and the strengths of both the analytical mind and the intuitive mind;
  • Articulate a deeper understanding of your core values and ideals through the lens of whole-brain living; and,
  • Practice an approach to problem-solving that integrates left-brain analysis and right-brain intuitive reasoning.

PTCI has especially helped me to be more aware of my intuitive abilities, and to pay more attention to my ideal.

Module 4: Awakening the Compassionate Heart

The human heart rests in the middle of our lives, and for virtually all of us, it stands in need of healing. The heart’s basic nature is to be courageous – and, in fact, the root word for “courage” (“cor”) means the heart. And, each of us has experienced the wounded heart – starting with childhood experiences in which we learned what we had to do in order to get love. It’s hard to imagine well-being in our lives without having taken care of the issues of the heart.

A wounded or broken heart is a universal experience and one that you cannot always control. But your wounded heart does not need to become a bitter heart, shut off from others and the world. This module assists you to connect with your resilience and to gently and lovingly embrace both the courage and the vulnerability of your heart. You will learn about current research and practices concerning forgiveness, self-love, and healthy boundaries. These practices will support you in responding to yourself and others in appropriate and caring ways.

By the end of this module you will experience the capacity to:

  • Understand and describe what modern science is discovering about heart consciousness, forgiveness, and self-love;
  • Experience an enhanced capacity for deep listening, empathetic responsiveness, and emotional intelligence;
  • Practice exercises of self-forgiveness that, in turn, make you more capable of forgiveness in difficult relationships; and,
  • Free up energy so that you can take steps toward implementing your personal passion in life.

The facilitators were wonderful – excellent research and workshop presentations were clear, meaningful and delivered with kindness and love.
