Personal Transformation and Courage Institute: Supporting Your Journey Toward Wholeness

The Yoga of Dreaming

with Mark Thurston

Each of us dreams every night, and those nocturnal experiences have many parallels to the dynamics of yoga practice. In this half-day workshop you will learn immediately usable tool for deeper self-understanding through remembering, personally interpreting, and co-creatively working with the imagery and feelings of your dreams.

The workshop will explore methodologies for finding meaning in one’s dreams that metaphorically apply central principles of yogic philosophy and practice:

  • The impulse to find balance – in one’s body and one’s mind
  • The idea of an “edge” which defines an apparent limit or challenge in one’s life
  • The identification of patterns of energy in how one experiences the body and the mind.

Additionally, we will examine insights about the cultivation of lucid-dreaming, as it is described in the ancient text Tibetan Yoga and Secret Doctrines. And this half-day workshop will include highlights about the consciousness of dreaming from Dr. Thurston’s course at George Mason University, “Consciousness, Meaning and Life-Purpose.”
